New bottles for nasal market support changing CPSC requirements

  • MJS Packaging

MJS Packaging is committed to providing the very best in child resistant packaging options.

New requirements from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) for child resistant packaging for products containing specified levels of imidazolines will go into effect in December, 2014.  These changes will have a significant impact on the need for child resistant packaging in both the ophthalmic and nasal categories.

In addition to the child resistant closures that were introduced by MJS Packaging in 2013 for ophthalmic products, the company now has bottles with a ratchet neck finish specifically designed for use with metered dose nasal pumps.  The bottles are made of HDPE, have an 18mm neck finish and are available in both ½ ounce and 1 ounce sizes.

In addition, these bottles offer flexibility for the pharmaceutical and OTC nasal category as they are compatible with a variety of nasal pumps with ratchet systems. Multiple options of metered dose nasal pumps are also available from MJS Packaging.

A major packaging distributor founded in 1885, MJS Packaging operates eight sales offices throughout the US.

Packaging designed for millennials

As each new generation enters into the consumer spotlight, new challenges and opportunities arise for brands. The millennial generation’s attention span has reportedly diminished down to about 5 seconds due to constant picture scrolling, watching videos, and being served ads at every corner. This means that product packaging must grab their attention quickly, provide relevant information about the product, and do it with better packaging design than the competition.
