Mold Rite Plastics in the pharmaceutical sector

  • MRP Solutions

The union of Weatherchem, Stull, and Mold-Rite under this last firm's banner has created a specialized packaging conglomerate that can work with just about any sector requiring containment or dispensing for its products.

One of Mold-Rite’s areas of expertise is the highly regulated pharmaceutical space, where many different types of closures and packaging are required. Providing closures that are easy to use and systems to assist in correct dosing are a fundamental part of pharma packaging design. Mold-Rite offers numerous items that assist consumers to adhere to their medication regimens, an issue of great concern to the healthcare industry.

Well known for a number of closure options dedicated to the pharma space, Mold Rite has recently released a product called the AccuDose liner. An adjunct to many of its closure options, the AccuDose is a tamper-evident liner that provides controlled dispensing for pills or other items contained in bottles.

The liner’s shape is easily adaptable to most containers by making simple orifice size and shape adjustments, dependent on pill size, and requires no packaging changes. Upon opening the package for the first time, the consumer removes the clean peel liner to expose the dispensing opening in the liner below which acts a retainer, thereby more easily dispensing the product.

While liners are excellent for application to containers holding solid medications, such as pills, Mold Rite manufactures a number of orifice reducers designed to be inserted into bottle necks which help control the flow of liquid medication, especially when used with dosing spoons or oral syringes. Liquid orifice reducers are available in a variety of sizes and apertures to accommodate multiple viscosities. They can be used in conjunction with a continuous thread cap or overcap.

Combining the company's  innovative, senior-friendly EZ-Grip and EZ-Safe closures with Mold Rite's AccuDose system creates a cost-effective packaging solution for medication that combines a number of qualities to make it easy to open and close and dosing simpler than ever before.
