The integration of Weener and Plasticum

  • Weener Plastics
Europe, UK, Ireland, Benelux, The Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Germany, Primary Packaging, Caps, Lids, Plastic

In order to support customers internationally even better in the future and expand Weener's market position, the Weener Plastic Packaging Group will restructure: The Dutch Plasticum Group B.V. with its 300 employees and four European production facilities will be integrated into the Weener Plastic Packaging Group as a subsidiary. Both companies see outstanding opportunities to fully exploit our growth potential in the personal care, food and beverage, home care, chemical and pharmaceutical packaging markets.

Since 2012, Weener and Plasticum have been owned by the long-term oriented Lindsay Goldberg LLC private equity fund of New York, represented in Central Europe by Lindsay Goldberg Vogel GmbH.

An ideal supplementation

Plasticum manufactures innovative standard caps and closures for personal care, food and home care products in four production facilities located in Tilburg (NL), Ede (NL), Waldkirch (D) and North Walsham (UK) – and perfectly supplements the existing product portfolio of the Weener Plastic Packaging Group: While Weener is mostly dedicated to the highly professional implementation of customized packaging projects, Plasticum has successfully concentrated on the development, manufacturing, sales and distribution of innovative and cost-effective standard caps and closures.

As a joint company, Weener Plastic Packaging Group and Plasticum Group B.V. can act as a global partner for international customers through an expanded production network. The company's owner Lindsay Goldberg also opens up the opportunity for them to invest more, both in R&D and in international expansion.

Roel Zeevat becomes the CEO of the company group

CEO of Weener Plastik GmbH will be Roel Zeevat (to date CEO of Plasticum), Gerhold Flockenhagen remains CTO, Ralf Sonnenberg is CSO for branded articles as before. CSO for standard products will be Ben Mennink (to date CCO at Plasticum). During the course of the transformation, it was mutually agreed that Johann Meinders would leave the company, but will remain available to the company as consultant. Weener Plastik thanks him for his work that greatly contributed to the companies’ success and wish him the best in his future personal and professional life.

Joint expansion of the strong market position

Weener Plastik is convinced that the company's restructuring and the established development, sales and distribution resources have created the necessary conditions for continuing our support its valued customers.
