New PET oil bottles from Gepack
One of the biggest stumbling blocks facing consumable oil producers is the consumer perception that oils bottled in glass are of a superior quality to those packaged in plastic. Gepack, a Portuguese producer of PET products, has brought out a line of bottles ideal for producers that want a more cost-effective solution for their oils without having to sacrifice image.
Most soft PET bottles simply don’t have the strength to withstand the nearly 120kg of vertical pressure normally used when filling glass oil bottles. Gepack’s bottles, on the other hand, are made of thick PET capable of not only withstanding the fill pressure required, but of providing the consumer with a bottle that has a strong, solid feel to it comparable to glass. The bottles are quite strong and have a good weight to them, so that the perception that the quality of the oil is inferior evaporates.
The price per unit of the PET bottles is HIGHLY competitive compared to glass. Also, they are designed to use the same tops and pourers currently used with glass bottles, so swapping out glass for PET on the filling line becomes a simple case of changing suppliers.
