Bormioli RoccoFor the ophthalmic sector, the Bormioli Rocco’s Plastics Division produces drops bottles, droppers and tamper evident and child proof caps, increasingly demanded by end consumers in view of safety and practical design aspects.
In the world of pharmaceutical packaging Bormioli Rocco is synonymous with quality and experience. A long-standing supplier of major multinationals in the pharmaceutical sector, today the Plastics Division continues to invest resources in research on materials and the development of new technology. Thanks to this know how, the division has been able to develop integrated packaging solutions, including pharmaceutical closures and bottles in PET, PE, PP, HDPE and LDPE, single-dose systems, accessories and dosers.
For the ophthalmic sector, the Plastics Division produces drops bottles, droppers and tamper evident and child proof caps, increasingly demanded by end consumers in view of safety and practical design aspects.
The capacity of the standard range varies from 8ml to 140ml and the colours of caps and seals of tamper evident plastic closures can be personalized.
In addition, Bormioli Rocco Research&Development remains as committed as ever to developing innovative packaging solutions that respond to the changing requirements of producers of ophthalmic products in terms of product integrity.
Ophthalmic products have always required the very highest standards of health and hygiene, which is why each stage of the manufacturing process undergoes rigorous controls and tests on the production line and in the laboratory. Production plants ensure uncompromising quality and safety thanks to the use of controlled environment systems.
Bormioli Rocco currently has two class 10,000 clean rooms and at the end of the year the company will install a third one in the Castelguelfo factory. The new clean room will be over 2000 m² in size and is earmarked for production of packaging for the ophthalmic sector and in general for all those items which, due to their end use, require particularly hygienic production conditions.
Thanks to modern low energy consumption electric machinery designed to minimise the possibility of end product contamination (electric, not hydraulic, mechanisms) and therefore guarantee optimal hygiene, ophthalmic products will be produced in an area with controlled temperature and particle contamination, fitted with special air filters.
The company's pursuit of quality is unwavering. In addition to ISO 9001: 2000 certification, Bormioli Rocco also obtained compliance with European Directive 93/42/CEE on medical devices and is committed to achieving ISO 15378 certification.
