Rexam Enables Sleek Can Packaging in Retort Beverage Market

Rexam is making it easier for customers in the retort beverage business to benefit from the company’s unique SLEEK(TM) Can packaging. Rexam is partnering with the Dairy Farmers of America, Inc. (DFA) to offer beverage marketers with low acid type products or ones that require retort processing the ability to go to market in a Rexam SLEEK Can. DFA has made a significant investment in a new filling and batch retorting line to become the first contract packing retort facility in the country that can run the Rexam SLEEK Can.

“We are focused on helping customers in the retort business successfully bring their products to market,” said Edward Tilley, vice president of business development, Dairy Farmers of America, Inc. (DFA). “The investment in this new line gives these customers access to a unique packaging option that will help them differentiate their product from the competition.”

The new line at DFA’s Cabool, MO, plant went live in March and is currently running cans for some well-known national brands.

“This new line extends the reach for our Rexam SLEEK Cans, offering customers in the retort market access to the strong benefits of this unique package,” said Harry Barto, president and CEO, Rexam Beverage Can North America. “This partnership with DFA is another example of how we are committed to building strong relationships with our customers, delivering value across every aspect of their supply chain to build their brand and bottom line.”

First introduced last year, the SLEEK package from Rexam offers all the inherent benefits of the aluminum can – guaranteed freshness, superior carbonation retention and shelf-life, quick chilling, distribution and filling economics and the best in recycling. In addition, the new SLEEK cans – available in 9oz., 10.5oz., and 12oz. sizes – give beverage suppliers the opportunity to establish category definition, enhanced shelf-appeal and consumer loyalty.
