Efficient dispenser enhances Xemose image

Skin treatment specialists Laboratoires Dermatologiques d’Uriage has become the first French company to adopt Rieke Dispensing’s Airless HVDS dispenser for emollient cream with the selection of the 400g pack for its market-leading Xémose brand.

The Airless HVDS was chosen because of its ability to ensure 98% product evacuation, a marked improvement on the traditional pump pack which it replaced.  In addition, the Rieke dispenser’s hi-tech and modern appearance is very much in keeping with the image of Xémose cream.

“Xémose is a highly effective product for every type of dry skin in all age groups, and it is essential that its quality image is reflected in the packaging,” explains Lisette Freitas, Xémose Product Manager.  “In particular, as well as an attractive and practical pack, it is also important that consumers feel they are getting value for money.  The almost total evacuation of the cream that the Airless HVDS is able to achieve is therefore a critical factor in enhancing the brand’s premium positioning.”

The Airless HVDS was specifically developed for the effective dispensing of high viscosity creams such as Xémose.  With conventional pumps, the inability of these creams to self level means that product is drawn from the centre of the container, leaving large amounts of residue clinging to the side, which cannot be accessed.  This leads to high wastage levels.

The Airless HDVS solution uses a combination of airless and piston-up technology to draw up product from the bottom of the container.  This achieves at least 98% product evacuation, far superior to the performance of a standard pump or follower-plate-down system.  The result is a reduction in product and packaging waste and more cost-effective treatments.

The reliable pump action of the Airless HVDS ensures controlled, accurate dosing, while a special suck back system that pulls cream back into the pump after each dispense, eliminates mess and maximises user hygiene.  Full tamper evidence provides consumer reassurance of product integrity.

“We have been delighted with the performance of the Airless HVDS and feedback from both pharmacists and end-consumers has been very positive,” concludes Lisette Freitas.

Rieke’s Airless HVDS is available in 14 pack sizes from 15g to 1kg, with dose options from 0.25ml to 4ml.  For manufacturers, the top filling dispensing pack ensures a simple filling operation.
