Biocare cuts costs with switch to Rieke

Chicago-based beauty product company Biocare Laboratories has reduced pack damage and cut costs by switching to Rieke Dispensing’s RS3 Swan pump for its Shea Body Butter Range.

Biocare Laboratories specialises in hair and skin care products for African-Americans. The company conducts extensive testing by highly trained chemists with state-of-the art laboratory equipment to measure the quality and effectiveness of its products and it carries this approach through to every aspect of its production including the packaging.

The company not only supplies its products to retailers across the US but also to Canada, the Caribbean, Europe, Africa and the Middle East, so efficient shippability is an important aspect of its pack designs.

Consistent shipping problems experienced with the previous pump used for the Shea Body Butter range prompted the company to look for an alternative. The switch to Rieke was made following extensive testing which demonstrated the RS3’s full capabilities.

A key benefit of the dispenser is its effective locking system, which allows it to be locked in the down position for efficient transportation. In addition the RS3’s robust design and attractive shape enhances the quality image of the Shea Body Butter brand while its user friendly pump action maximises consumer convenience and allows accurate measuring of the product.

This is the first time that Biocare Laboratories has worked with Rieke Dispensing and the company was impressed with the quality and function of the RS3 during the tests which showed that it outperformed the existing pump. Pricing was also a key issue and the RS3 offered a cost-effective alternative.

Curtis Davis, COO/Vice President of Marketing commented, “We switched to the Rieke RS3 Swan pump because it eliminated blow-by issues we were experiencing with our previous pump. As a result, it saved us money by reducing damages in the field.”

Part of Rieke Dispensing’s Shipper Dispenser Range, the RS-3 is suitable for a range of liquids, lotions, gels and alcohol-based products and is available in optional head designs including Standard, Swan, Palm and Longreach. The RS3 also features a no-metal contact construction and is shower-proof. The Verbeeck Packaging Group has launched their refreshing, new company website www.verbeeck.com with a vast product catalogue spanning more than 3.000 products suitable for many different market sectors.

The Verbeeck Packaging Group consists of several companies dedicated to delivering a full packaging service. Founded in 1949, it is a well established and a very successful packaging provider.

Verbeeck’s product catalogue needed a substantial online presence and this week, the completely redesigned website www.verbeeck.com has been launched. The website is divided into two micro-sites, showing Verbeeck Packaging Group’s corporate information and their complete product catalogue.

The site was built in a way that makes it user friendly and it is, therefore, easy to find exactly the information you are looking for. Special attention was put into organizing the catalogue in an intuitive way that would allow visitors to browse both by product type – bottles, jars, tubes, closures etc, and by the target market for example cosmetics, pharmaceuticals or food.

Precise Plastics—new ranges & a new pump

Over the past year and a half Precise Plastics Ltd and Emsar Inc in the USA have been developing a low profile snap on pump with a plastic ferrule designed to suit the Precise Plastics range of PETP injection blow moulded bottles.

Due to the very tight neck tolerances achieved on the bottles it has been possible to develop a new pump with a plastic ferrule which shows better weight loss than the current “aluminium ferrule” type of closure.

In addition Precise Plastics has developed a completely new range of bottles from 7,5 ml to 30 ml which can be silk screened, sleeved or foil blocked.

The use of injection blow moulded PET means that the bottles have excellent stability with alcoholic fragrance formulations. The use of the low profile pump means that the majority of the pump housing is hidden, furthermore the pump is supplied with a plastic overcap.

The bottles from Precise Plastics are ideal for luxurious selling items as for practical high-class testers Bottles can be coloured and also sprayed with a matt varnish.

Precise Plastics also developed a mini stick with a 4 ml content. This stick can be used for sampling as well as for selling items. We can offer the filling, based on your formulation or ours, and the labelling (which makes the stick tamper evident. The typical fill is lip balm, lip gloss or mini deodorant.

Next to this new range Precise Plastics still offers the existing PET bottles with a FEA 13 mm and FEA 15 mm crimp neck. The oval 15 ml and 30 ml spray bottles with their unique flip-top caps are ideal containers to pack breath fresheners, insect repellents or sunlotions.
