Virospack's presence at Cosmopack Bologna this year was noted by many of its customers and well received by many new contacts due to the eye catching stand design. The lack of physical samples at the show differentiated Virospack from classic stands with great showcases and caused great interest in the innovative use of projections to describe products and processes.

Cosmpack, the show within a show at Cosmoprof, is dedicated to packaging and contract manufacturing, and this year featured new dedicated pavilions and an increased market interest in this sector.

All new EasyShape droppers by Virsopack

Virospack has recently introduced a cosmetic dropper that can be fully customized to complement the shape of any bottle. The EasyShape dropper is comprised of four components - three standard elements and a customizable collar. The standard elements are the inner cap in PP, the bulb in rubber, and the pipette in glass. The customized collar shape is available in urea or PP (urea being a smaller investment in moulding than the injection plastic). The standard neck size fits a 20/410 bottle, and the PP inner cap ensures that the compression plastic doesn’t come into direct contact with the glass.

Production of the compression plastic moulds used to design the collar has little cost, and is totally personalized. This assures that no dropper will look alike, and the shape of the dropper will align perfectly with the bottle range. The EasyShape dropper is a designer's dream and provides cosmetic brands with an exclusive look.

Lead time for the custom moulds is six weeks and production time is eight weeks. Virospack produces all components in-house and also handles the decoration. Customers can trust the company to have complete control over all processes, from initial drawings to product production.

Virospack opens a new facility in Barcelona

Virospack, a leading manufacturer of packaging for skin care products, has recently opened up its new facilities in Barcelona. The company has made a considerable investment in order to build a new location that is ideal for assembly. The building is much larger in size, having been increased from the original 4,000m3 to 11,000m3, and includes an expanded machine pool.

The modern building encompasses all decoration and final assembly of products, with the actual component manufacturing sections being maintained at the original plant located on the same street.

A custom-made metallization line has also been incorporated into the facility. This addition is capable of tripling the previous decoration capacity, making this a versatile and high-tech option for large scale orders.

Virospack is committed to investing in the development and innovation of its facilities, a philosophy which allows them to improve productivity and be more cost efficient, all while respecting the environment.

Ecocert compliant droppers, by Virospack

In order to assure full conformity with ever more stringent sustainability guidelines, Virospack has ensured that its new dropper line is fully Ecocert compliant, meaning it's production is eco-sensitive and cuts down on material waste, using processes that minimize environmental impact.

The droppers are manufactured in easily recycled polypropylene (PP), which has traditionally been perceived as a low budget material not suitable for high-end or luxury products. Virospack has been able to break with that perception through painstaking design and production in order to slowly replace that stereotype with a new perception of PP as a versatile and eminently useful material that impacts less on the the environment than other types of plastic. In fact, all the PP that is collected after the initial manufacturing process is put back into the manufacturing cycle, ensuring that there is almost no waste. The high recyclability of PP means it can be used almost indefinitely.

Ecocert is a new trend and is being developed almost daily by responsible companies looking to ensure a sustainable future for all. Virospack actively seeks to stay ahead of the curve with regard not only to packaging concepts but also with regard to the research of different materials for different components. The change will come into effect January 31st, 2010. In a constant search for improvement, Virospack has joined Sedex, the Supplier Ethical Data Exchange organization, to contribute to the global improvement of the supply chain.

Sedex, a London based non-profit organization, has created an online database for organizations to store and share data on ethical and responsible trading.

It networks manufacturers and retailers, which can share data on ethical performance, ensuring transparency in compliance of labour laws, health and safety, environmental integrity and business integrity.

For drying methods they have two options- the traditional heating chamber can be used or ultraviolet drying is available. The presence of two door vacuum chambers in the line will allow the management of high capacity orders.

The biggest advantage is that all the orders can be delivered within a short lead time whilst respecting customer’s quality requirements thanks to the increase of their in-house decorating facilities.
