Weener has released the OLIVO collection - thick PET bottles that are perfect for edible oils and vinegars, as they provide a look and feel comparable to glass without the disadvantages, such as weight, breakage, or cost.

Olive oil is being connected to clean living by health-conscious consumers , so it's no wonder that olive oil consumption's on the rise in many countries outside the Mediterranean.  A further increase is expected, so it's clear that demand will spur an increase in the number of containers required.  Bottlers are also expected to go with materials like PET if they can prove to be resilient as well as inexpensive.

Olive oil is normally put into thick glass bottles, as consumers tend to associate the quality of the product with its container.  A re-thinking process is gradually asserting itself, though.  Slowly but surely, consumers are beginning to demand packaging that offers product-handling and disposal advantages. Upon purchase, the filled PET bottle is lighter than its glass analogue; it's more difficult to break; it's easy to toss into a recycling bin.

Weener's PET bottles are available in a variety of capacities (80ml, 250ml, 500ml and 750ml), shapes (square and round), and colours (standard clear and green are available in stock, other custom colours can be ordered), based on familiar and popular glass bottles.  The PET bottles manage to look and feel remarkably similar to glass, giving the consumer the security he/she needs when it comes to purchasing.
 
Each bottle is fitted with a dosing lip and a screw-top closure, sealed with tamper-proofing. Various stock closure colours are available to complement the offering, including black, green, carnelian, gold and silver.  Again, custom colours are available upon request, with a minimum order.
