Süd-Chemie Performance Packaging continues to expand and innovate active packaging portfolio for logistics and healthcare
Süd-Chemie Performance Packaging, a business unit of Süd-Chemie Group (Munich), continues their ambitious global expansion and product innovation to best serve their customers in a wide array of industries with their active, smart and protective packaging solutions. In 2007, Süd-Chemie opened two new major manufacturing sites in New Milford, Connecticut, USA and Romont, Switzerland dedicated to injection molding of its tubes and desiccant stoppers for the rapidly growing effervescent tablet and diagnostic markets.
Süd-Chemie is the only US manufacturer of tubes and desiccant stoppers and is the largest printed tube manufacturer in the world. The two new sites join Süd-Chemie Performance Packaging’s network of manufacturing sites that include Romorantin and St. Mammes, France; Belen, New Mexico and Colton, California, USA; Penrith, Australia; Singapore; and Balikesir, Turkey, and will soon include Süd-Chemie’s newest site in China.
In addition to expanding globally, Süd-Chemie also continues to expand its product portfolio complimenting its traditional desiccant and polymer packaging products. In this current boon in global trade, the company continues to innovate its line of export packaging aimed at protecting transported goods from the damaging effects of moisture. Süd-Chemie now offers five primary configurations of Container Dri® II that include the newest members, Container Dri II-Plus which comes equipped with a robust hook and strap system to hang and suspend in shipping containers and rail cars, and Container Dri II-Pack which combines a rigid shape for easy installation with the superior absorption characteristics of the Container Dri II product line.
For the healthcare packaging markets, Süd-Chemie has launched the Flow-Limiter™, a packaging component molded with Süd-Chemie’s Advanced Desiccant Polymer (ADP®) that limits the release of pills, simultaneously avoiding product contamination and protecting shelf-life. The company is engaged in a number projects that utilize the company’s design and manufacturing capabilities for incorporating protection, safety, dispensing, ergonomics and ease-of-use into product packaging.
