Glass and Lux set new trend with engraving technology

Previously product brands appeared on the product itself yet very few of these were permanent, especially those inside the box and this is where the brand is most visible while the product is in use.

Glass and Lux have recently begun to market etching techniques which they have adapted to suit their mirrors both large and small to optimize both their quality and price.

  • Laser technology allows quality tracing and perfect precision. It is now possible to scoop out the silvering completely (therefore see through the glass) or to retain a semi-transparency that enhances the visibility of logos whilst remaining opaque (the plastic under the mirror can not be seen). This is a technology already being used by many of the most renowned cosmetic companies.
  • Silk screening helps Glass and Lux produce stylish and very resistant logos in a great variety of colors. They have used this new etching technology on cosmetic mirrors within compacts and other items.
  • Sandblasting is used for larger projects. With this technology all markings are removed from surfaces to get a translucent look, useful for light effects (for instance, backlighting).
All these different techniques permit a range of possibilities regarding the customization requirements for cosmetic cases, particularly those with mirrors. The customisation of cosmetic mirrors is just beginning.

It is expected that this trend will spread quickly with beauty product companies being increasingly interested in new ways to brand their products both elegantly and permanently.
