Bramlage Kork has made a significant first step into the Chinese wine market, regarded as one of the key wine producing countries of the future. The company has agreed a supply deal with the Beijing Bolongbao vineyard. Established in 2001, the vineyard occupies 25 hectares of land and currently produces 250 tons of grapes, but is planning ultimately to produce one million bottles annually.
The deal demonstrates Bramlage Kork’s ability to meet customer requirements at speed. Following the initial contact at the Intervitis trade show in Stuttgart in May 2004, Bramlage Kork delivered the first shipment of 50,000 printed corks to China in October.
Although its industry is still in its infancy, experts predict that China could become an important winemaking nation in the future as it continues to develop the vast amount of land suitable for viticulture.
“Bramlage Kork’s deal with Beijing Bolongbao represents an ideal opportunity to participate in this important market at the outset,” comments Stefan Thiel, General Manager.
