Joint Juice leaps into bold new packaging

Joint Juice leaps into bold new packagingLeaping off store shelves is the exciting new package for Joint Juice, a glucosamine dietary supplement that is targeted at arthritis sufferers and is said to “hydrate and lubricate your joints,” according to the package graphics.

Available in tropical and orange-tangerine flavors, Joint Juice was created to provide a more convenient and satisfying way for consumers to take advantage of the power of glucosamine. For the commercial launch of this product, Joint Juice partnered with Atlanta-based MeadWestvaco Packaging Systems, a unit of MeadWestvaco Corporation (NYSE:MWV), to create a dynamic secondary package for their 8oz. short cans.

Using a state-of-the-art, six-color hexachrome process in combination with a high-gloss UV coating on sturdy Coated Natural Kraft® (CNK) paperboard, MeadWestvaco developed an easy-to-carry 24-pack Duodozen® carton with eye-catching graphics.

“The hexachrome printing on this new carton creates an exceptionally high-end package,” says Bill Wagner, national account manager for MeadWestvaco Packaging Systems. “This particular six-color process is further enhanced by the smooth printing surface of the CNK board. The combination of the board and advanced printing process create a carton with remarkably crisp and vibrant, photo-quality graphics.”

The hexachrome printing process features standard CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow & black) as well as two additional colors, orange and green. This six-color process, which runs extraordinarily well on offset printers due to their advanced registry control, is highly precise and creates an extremely sophisticated package with brilliant graphics that differentiate Joint Juice from other functional beverages and attract consumers to the product.

“The bold colors and high-gloss coating on the Joint Juice package help it to stand out on store shelves,” says Wagner. “This unique and colorful packaging attracts consumers, making Joint Juice easily recognizable to shoppers who have previously purchased the product, as well as those who are unfamiliar with the supplement.”

Printed at a contract facility on the West Coast, the new Joint Juice Duodozen carton was initially hand-packed, but soon will be produced on MeadWestvaco Packaging Systems’ new Duodozen 1250M packaging machine at the 7-Up plant in Modesto, California. The new 24-pack is available now and can be found at wholesale and discount retailers nationwide.
