Natura uses Eastman’s Glass Polymer™ in the new packaging of the Chronos line

Natura uses Eastman’s Glass Polymer™ in the new packaging of the Chronos line Once more, Eastman Chemical Company joints Natura and participates in an important moment.

The Reason? Consumers may already purchase the new version of Chronos Spilol anti aging creams, the packaging of which is manufactured from Eastar® (AN014) copolyester of the Eastman Glass Polymer™ family.

One of the first companies to introduce raw material in the Brazilian market for the manufacture of sophisticated packaging for the cosmetic segment, Eastman has maintained closed relationship with Natura. Three years ago, Eastar AN004, of the same Glass Polymer family, was used in the packaging of the Kaiak perfume. Last year, Natura decided to use Eastar AN014 for the cap of the Due perfume.

The success and consolidation of said partnership arrived its peak with the use of the Glass Polymer in the recent introduction of the new version of the Chronos Spilol line. It is not by chance that Eastman has worked jointly with Natura to offer the public all advantages offered by this family of Eastman’s copolyesters. “If, on one side, we appear as one of the most important chemical industry of the world, on the other hand, Natura conquered consumers in several countries, due to the unquestionable quality of its products”, praises Gabriel Crosta, Business Manager of Eastman for the Plastic Specialties Area in Mercosul.

Following Júlio Neves, Packaging Research and Development Manager - Natura Innovation Nucleus, the selection of a raw material that could offer a differentiated packaging, capable of aggregating value to the product and, at the same time, present the total evolution of the Chronos line, demanded several preliminary tests with different resins. The company decided to use pilot molds until reaching the final decision - Eastman’s Glass Polymer - that complied with all needs of Natura. It should also be pointed out the effort and efficiency of Augros, that was responsible for the project and the execution of the molds.

As for Renato Wakimoto, Natura’s Packaging Research and Development Manager, the selection of Eastman’s Glass Polymer concept assured the integrity of the intrinsic benefits to the product during storage, transportation and use, backed by its quality. Wakimoto points out also the concern of the company when it comes to the ecodesign question. During the research and development of packaging material, Natura gives emphasis to the four fundaments of ecodesign: trimming, recycling, mass reduction, and reutilization of packaging material, namely, if technically possible, these four fundaments should be employed in the project, in order to reduce the environmental impact generated by its packaging.
