Balance in clear forms

Balance in clear formsDecorative novelty from Alcina: A riot of colour in fine gossamer glass.

Very classic, very poised, very attractive: armed with these basic attributes Balance Nail, a new nail varnish under the Alcina brand, is entering the market. In addition to brilliantly shiny flacons, Gerresheimer is also producing a satin-frosted model for the radiant colour palette of its customer Dr. Kurt Wolff - an outstanding highlight in the beauty contest of nail varnish brilliance. At interpack 2005, Gerresheimer issues an invitation into this alluring part of the world of cosmetics packaging.

The fascinating colours and high-quality claim of these nail varnishes could hardly be better expressed than in the new miniature flacons which Alcina markets in the beauty- and care-conscious world of hair-dressing salons. The decorative show of colours appears completely free behind the glass - limited only by contours which seem to be their own. Because optically the glass transports the colours to the outermost edge while remaining practically invisible itself. The effect is not broken by a logo: the name of the product hovers a little higher, its fine letters circling the silkily shimmering metallic gleam of the cap.

"Through rigorous restriction to the essentials the designers have succeeded in creating a little masterpiece here, whose clear line and cleverly balanced shaping give it real brilliance," says Burkhard Lingenberg, Director of Corporate PR and Marketing. From the circular base the glass initially rises cylindrically into the totally straight side of the bottle before flowing into the softly rounded shoulder below the cap. Then it rises again in a slim cylinder until the overall height has almost exactly doubled: generous proportions in the eight-millilitre format.

While for example 'Torero', 'Sierra' and 'Copper' present their clear red, metallic violet and copper tones in a shining glass get-up, 'Natural Rose' hides its diaphanously delicate tint behind a fine veil: for this beautiful soft pink Gerresheimer has acid-etched the flacon. For this reason the tender rosebud looks particularly enticing against the high-gloss world of its friends.
