For many years packaging manufacturer Superfos has been a significant supplier of high quality containers to leading paint manufacturers in Europe. Now this well known logo will literally help provide its’ paint customers with a significant competitive advantage, with the launch of a new patented feature named FlakeFree. FlakeFree is a true innovation in packaging for paint that is expected to bring the paint industry into a new era and position plastic solutions as the leading packaging standard for paints over metal solutions.
The essence of FlakeFree is a construction with more than 40,000 miniature Superfos logos on the inside of Superfos’ containers and lids which create a granular texture that prevents dry paint flakes from falling into the contents. This revolutionary solution addresses the widespread problem of dry paint flakes affecting the professional results for both professionals and private people.
“With the launch of FlakeFree we have developed a truly unique solution which provides our customers with a competitive advantage and help create end-user preferences for their brands. We can literately help them gain market shares and improve sales.
In the past, dry paint flakes falling into the remaining paint of an opened container have been a serious problem for end-users either affecting the professional result of a paint job or resulting in users having to discard leftover paint,” explains Sales and Marketing Director Martin Malmros, Superfos.
The introduction of FlakeFree is also a strong weapon in the battle to gain conversion from metal to plastic in the paint segment, and this gives Superfos - as well as its’ customers - a unique competitive advantage. Martin Malmros tells:
“FlakeFree is the result of ongoing dedicated focus on research and development at Superfos in close cooperation with customers in the paint industry. Plastic holds many opportunities just waiting to be explored. And we will explore them.”
“To our customers in the paint industry plastic hold many advantages compared to metal. Plastic solutions have great improvement and huge convenience to the end user as well as logistical efficiency. Plastic is more flexible and there is no risk of rust or dents in storage and transportation and product safety is improved. As a consequence, converting from metal to plastic will result in value adding benefits and cost savings.
“When we at the same time use and exploit our know-how in injection molding technology and decoration to create extraordinary solutions, that also appeal to end-users in a unique way, the advantages lead to increased market shares for our customers.”
FlakeFree marks a new era for paint packaging and for the entire paint market. In combination with unique decoration options, Superfos also offers other new features, such as transparent containers that add to consumer convenience and the whole experience of painting. The transparent material makes it possible for consumers to see how much paint is left in a container without opening it.
