RPC Containers Hereford’s expertise in IML containers has brought a stylish finish to premium spreads from Swiss manufacturer Mifa AG.Based in Basel, Mifa is part of the Swiss supermarket group Migros. When the company launched its low-cholesterol brand Col-Balance, Mifa was keen to improve the on-shelf presentation of its packaging and decided that IML offered the best solution in terms of label quality and full coverage of the pack.
RPC Hereford initially produced only a 250g tub but, following its success, Mifa saw an opportunity to change the majority of its spread brands to IML containers. In order to complete the required range RPC Hereford manufactured a complementary 400g size.
The new container has been developed with an identical top design to the 250g, allowing Mifa to utilise the same lid across both sizes. In an example of RPC cross-site working, these are thermoformed at RPC Bebo CR and decorated with a self-adhesive label to match the tub’s IML design.
The most recent innovation at Mifa has been the introduction of a new bulk transportation format that has eliminated the need for carton board. RPC Hereford has worked with Mifa to ensure an easy transition to this new format.
“Mifa AG is committed to quality and we were quick to recognise the advantages presented by IML,” comments Ilse Niessner “RPC Hereford has proved a reliable partner, both in creating outstanding label reproduction on pack and in sourcing the lids from RPC Bebo CR.”
