When William Saurin, a leading French ready-made meal producer, launched a new line of Délice Confit meat spreads for its affiliated Paul Prédault brand in innovative easy-open, easy-to-dispense cans it turned to CROWN Food Europe, an affiliate of Crown Holdings, Inc. (Crown). The gold cans are wrapped in custom decorative cardboard sleeving and contain 125-grams of pâté and meat spread products in chicken, duck and pork liver flavors.The steel cans maximize consumer convenience with their superior easy-to-open, easy-to-dispense attributes. Crown developed the cans with a wide top end, “necked out” shape that allows consumers to access and dispense product with greater ease. This shape is ideal for packaging terrines, pâtés, rillettes, tuna slices and similar products. The cans also feature Eole-III™ easy-open ends, whose incorporation is made possible by a new 73mm diameter size. This diameter enables compatibility for the first time between a 125-gram can and easy-open technologies, which include Eole™ ends and PeelSeamTM peelable lids.
“The Paul Prédault brand is famous for the quality of its products, which are made according to traditional recipes from the highest quality ingredients,” explains Jean Phillippe Oyselet, Marketing Director at William Saurin. “As we were planning to launch the Delice Confit line, we recognized that in addition to a signature quality taste, our consumers also demand convenient use. By modifying our cans to maximize easy open and easy dispense convenience, Crown was able to incorporate features that, although seemingly small, have a huge positive impact on the way that our customers experience our products and interact with our brand.”
The Delice Confit cans are not the first time that Crown has been able to develop a convenient package for William Saurin products. The partnership was recently honored with a DuPont Diamond Award for the easy-open, single-serve, bowl can that Crown created to help William Saurin launch its “Salades Gourmandes,” line of meat salads.
