What You See Is What You Get: Mondi Packaging Presents New Single Serve Pouch
In the world of convenience food packaging long shelf life and easy preparation are just as important as attractive colorful presentation at the point of sale. Mondi Packaging Flexibles’ new single serve pouch meets all these criteria and more. Your customers can see the product inside. Combining excellent barrier characteristics, retortability and microwavability are food packaging requirements that can be a technical challenge. Mondi Packaging Flexibles developed a new three-layer material combination using silicon oxide or aluminium oxide, which solves this problem. It is primarily used for single serve meals designed for a consumer’s modern life style of single households and quick and easy, yet healthy food preparation. An extended shelf life of up to one year depending on the product packed is achieved thanks to the material’s excellent barrier properties, that keep oxygen and moisture out of the product.
Using silicon oxide instead of the traditional aluminum layer – together with our transparent sealing option – makes yet another attractive feature possible: self standing food pouches with see-through windows. Customer’s preferences can also be met with regard to the opening mechanism. The Single Serve Pouch is available with a tear notch or Mondi Packaging Flexibles’ new laser perforation. Mondi Packaging Flexibles’ new Single Serve Pouch offers excellent printing properties.
Currently, the Single Serve Pouch is mainly used for pre-cooked rice, pasta and couscous. It is suitable for a variety of foods, including soups, sauces, vegetables, and various types of ready-to-serve meals. Mondi Packaging Flexibles currently supplies eight customers in Europe with the new Sinlge Serve Pouch.
