Sense- sational packaging: HCT develops tactile Eyeshadow palette for Urban Decay

Sense- sational packaging: HCT develops tactile Eyeshadow palette for Urban DecayHCT was able to utilise their extensive experience with cardboard engineering to create the unique, custom design, for Urban Decays’ ‘Eyeshadow Ammo Palette’ The concept was born to coincide with Urban Decay’s 10th Birthday in 2006, and contains 10 of their best selling luxury eyeshadow shades, all enclosed within a lavish, tactile cardboard palette.

The palette is finished with intertwining elegant decoration graphics, using rich shades of purple and violet, with overlapping textures of foil and flocking decoration both in and outside of the palette.

The exclusivity of the custom design for Urban Decay is amplified by the graphic decoration, as it is the first time that velvet flocking and metallic foil printing have been used so intensely together to create such an unusual look, feel and finish of the packaging. The distinctive, tactile elements of the palette were achieved by using a matt 128gsm art paper, along with the foil and flocking decorations.

The palette also uses a tight magnetic closure to ensure secure transportation, and a glass mirror to guarantee precise application of the products.

The success of the palette is demonstrated as it is listed as a ‘Best Seller’ on both urbandecay.com and sephora.com, illustrating the consumer demand for luxury, lavish designed cardboard packaging whilst also providing variety and value for money.
