EDV Packaging introduces mid-range pack concept for Australia. EDV Packaging has increased
its cups range for diced fresh fruit in transparent PP/EVOH/PP by launching a new pack format for the brand Goulburn
Valley, from SPC Ardmona, in Australia. The product was launched in mid 2006 and obtained considerable success from the first
moment it entered the food chain.
Nowadays eating on-the-go has become more of a reality rather than a trend. Everyday, more and more people eat outside at
any time of the day while taking more advantage of their spare time. Consumers want their food to be complete, nutritious and
healthy, thus they expect food producers to offer the perfect combination between wholesome food and portable packaging.
SPC Ardmona have recognised this trend a long time ago and have been one of the trailblazers of the fruit in cup concept from its
onset. This 250 ml product offers an attractive healthy choice for adult consumers as part of a meal or just a snack.
EDV Packaging coextrude and thermoform the PP/EVOH/PP transparent barrier structure at their production plant located in
Llinars del Vallès, Barcelona, Spain. The EVOH layer provides excellent protection to the packed product as it withstands robust
thermal treatments such as sterilization or pasteurization. The base material guarantees the long preservation of the fruit as
well as its taste, flavour, freshness and texture up to 18 months. Barriers to water, UV rays and oxygen are a must for
the long shelf-life.
The product is stored at ambient temperature and its transparency allows consumers to see the contents. Walls of the cup
have been designed smooth to favour the subjection while walking or when placing it in the cup holder of the car and
additionally delivering space enough for a customized printed label.
The cup is hermetically thermosealed with a plastic barrier transparent film and is completed with a rigid injected reclosable
transparent overcap. As an added value, the overcap includes a spork to give consumers the option of eating the
product whenever wherever. The product is sold in twin-packs with a decorated carton box.
Thanks to the quality and characteristics of the plastic material, the cup becomes 100% recyclable therefore respectful with
the environment. Low weight, easy to carry, unbreakable and clearly eye-catching, the final presentation is visible from any
angle of the supermarket.
