Following the modern trend where new gimmicks of application are invading the make-up sector, Givenchy took one daring step further with “Rouge Interdit” lipstick in a sleeve case, the original and innovative finish of which blends beautifully with an elegant gimmick of application. Rexam was a partner in this new bold approach.

The first surprise is the case, hidden inside a shiny black bi-injected ABS sleeve. Standing upright on its base, the sleeve looks like a precious object, crowned with a fine black ribbon hooked onto the top of the lipstick, like an object made to be carried around. The second surprise appears when the case is removed to reveal a base with the hollow-engraved Givenchy logo and hallmark.

The greatest challenges with this packaging lay with both the injection process and the process implemented for assembly and finishing. The sleeve was made shiny black with a bi-injection process, ensuring a neatly stretched, smooth surface despite significant variations in thickness and sharp angles.

Automatic assembly, both highly sophisticated and custom-designed, was introduced to guarantee a hard-wearing product and good resistance for the ribbon.

In terms of finishing, the top of the base is enhanced with a black laser-ground double 'G', inserted with particularly high precision given the fineness of the ground section and how close it is to the round plate. This same base was injected with black then metallized in shiny silver to bring out the end-result of the ground black logo. Last but not least, the sleeve is hallmarked with hot-stamped shiny silver and UV varnish to protect the whole piece.

There is a feel of extra added-value to this lipstick thanks to the lest in the base and Rexam's market-leading Rouge 2000 mechanism, acknowledged for its smoothness of operation.

This latest in the line of Givenchy lipsticks is the sequel to the “Lip Lip Lip” lipstick manufactured for the brand by Rexam.
