UCP rises to the Boots vitamins pack challengeBoots has relaunched its Vitamins range with a Child Resistant Closure (CRC) system developed by United Closures & Plastics which commercialises an unusual design brief and meets the stringent requirements of BSEN 8317:2004 testing standards for child resistant recloseable packaging. In response to draft CEN proposals to launch a general test method to evaluate ease of opening of packaging with elderly people. UCP is producing a custom designed screw closure for Pronamel, part of GlaxoSmithKline’s Sensodyne oral care range, the first toothpaste specially formulated for people with sensitive teeth to help protect against acid erosion. In a move away from push-pull closures, Abbey Well is re-launching a number of its products with the new 28mm PCO Challenger flip-top sports closure from Astra Plastique, supplied in the UK by United Closures and Plastics of Norwich. UCP has designed and produced a new general trade 58mm Fabric Conditioner dosing cap in conjunction with Powder and Liquid Products (PLP) of Consett, County Durham (UK). This will be used by the laundry and household cleaning products manufacturer for its ‘Easy’ brand of fabric conditioner in 2 litre packs as well as private label products. UCP, MGJ and EXCELL Laboratory have partnered for the first scientific study to examine the influence of liner permeability on the evolution of wines with varying reductive potentials when using a screw cap closure with different liners. Four wine varietals were selected and bottled in Bordeaux, France on October 13, 2006.
