Americk Packaging are finalising their plans for the forthcoming FRUIT LOGISTICA Trade Show in Berlin. Over 65,000 trade visitors from 135 countries are expected over 3 days, commencing 3rd February. The exhibition gathers fruit and vegetable producers, importers, exporters, wholesalers and retailers in addition to packaging specialists.

Part of the flexibles division of Americk Packaging Group, Americk ASP Flexibles is one of the fastest growing packaging suppliers to the fresh produce market in Europe. Sustained growth has led to a recent decision to move to a new site in Wigan. The 80,000sq.ft. facility is over 3 times the size of the existing location, providing much needed room for the expansion of their manufacturing and logistics operations and will also house a brand new state of the art laboratory.

Production capacity will also receive a boost with the installation of a new 1500mm wide F&K 8+1 colour press capable of High Definition Flexo print quality and automatic registration for fast change overs. It is anticipated the combined investment of £7M will increase capacity to 175M linear metres a year from this spring.

Managing Director Steve Ellis commented “This significant investment will provide flexibility and room for growth.” He continues “Servicing the fresh produce market demands flexibility, the highest degree of customer service, technical innovation and a thorough understanding of the unique demands of this market. Our customers are continually striving to meet consumer demand whilst managing waste and our ability to provide a bespoke packaging solution, that maximises the performance of their product, often with very short lead times, is absolutely critical.”

Innovation is important to any packaging organisation and this aspect is expected to be a key theme at FRUIT LOGISTICA. Americk Packaging are poised to promote its NaturSense™ solution at the fair, demonstrating its wealth of knowledge on the subject of shelf-life extension. Essentially NaturSense™ is an in-pack sensor, developed to monitor true environmental conditions, such as humidity, temperature and concentration of various gases. From packing house to the shelf.

Data captured throughout the supply chain, enables analysis that can identify required improvements to increase the shelf-life and freshness of your product. The full range of produce packaging including punnets, trays, paper produce bags, Lamination, Hot Needle perforation, Laser Technology, Micro/ Macro Perforation, Centre folded films, Back Seal bags, Anti-mist and labelling will be on display on Stand A-01 in Hall 7.2c FRUIT LOGISTICA.

The latest addition to the group, Americk Advantage, who offer a multitude of services including electronic article surveillance (EAS), multi leaf labels and studio services, will be showcasing the newest products to the company’s portfolio including pouches and environmentally friendly pulp and plastic punnets.
