Berry Adds Refill to Exclusive Stick Benefits

  • Berry Global

Berry Global is launching a refill version of its popular Exclusive stick, ideal for a wide range of personal care applications, including deodorants and solid formula face care and body care products.

Part of Berry’s B Circular Range of sustainable packaging solutions, the Exclusive Refill adds reusability to the Exclusive’s existing benefits of mono-material construction and the availability of recycled plastic to help support customers’ sustainability goals.

The bottom-filled design of the Exclusive allows fast and efficient filling. Importantly, the refill process significantly reduces contact with the formula to prevent product contamination.

The Exclusive Refill can also be manufactured in recycled plastic, including Berry’s own CleanStream® post-consumer recycled (PCR) material from domestically recovered household polypropylene waste (PP). CleanStream® has recently been granted a Letter of No Objection (LNO) from the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA).

In addition, all parts of the Exclusive stick – the cap and outer body and all internal parts – are manufactured in polypropylene.

Designed for consumer-convenience

The Exclusive Refill is available in 50ml and 75ml. The precision-made parts ensure ease of use for consumers to provide convenient, accurate and hygienic application of products, where there is no need to touch the formula.

The cylindrical-shaped stick features a square edge and pure straight lines to maximise on-shelf presence. This can be further enhanced with a wide choice of colours and decoration options for complete personalisation of the pack to meet specific brand objectives.

“Reuse, recyclability, and the use of recycled content are key elements of Berry’s Impact 2025 sustainability strategy and therefore underpin all our design and development work,” commented Thierry Bernet, VP Circular Economy & Innovation for Berry Global CPI.

“The new Exclusive Refill offers customers these sustainability benefits while still retaining its aesthetics and ease of use to support individual brand objectives and maximise consumer appeal.”

Spotlight: Customer Collaboration is Key to Bringing Circular Solutions to Market Faster

Berry Global partnered with Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company, Inc. to improve the recyclability of food packaging with MXD6, a high-performance barrier solution for extruded articles, such as thermoformed items and extruded plastic tubes and bottles. The MXD6 barrier is recyclable up to 12% and received Critical Guidance recognition from the Association of Plastics Recyclers (APR), validating its compatibility with the Polypropylene (PP) recycling stream. Using MXD6 helps eliminate the performance and compatibility limitations of Ethylene Vinyl Alcohol (EVOH), including limited recyclability and reprocessing issues that cause degradation and contamination, and offers an alternative during material shortages.
