Holy Lama Naturals offers you a range of wonderfully delicious natural cruelty free products based on Ayurvedic principles. Our flagship product range are the Natural handmade soaps.
Our story begins in 1938 when our founder D V Deo migrated from near Goa to Kerala, in the South of India, to set up agriculture in essential oils. He started vetivert cultivation on a commercial basis, becoming the pioneer in the essential oils industry in India. The business then expanded into other essential oils and spice concentrate extraction.
From the time he remembers Vijay Deo, his youngest son, was fascinated by the world of essential oils and perfumery and was involved in the business as a school boy. His fascination for essential oils took him to Bhutan on a government backed project to help the locals there cultivate and extract lemon grass oil. He lived in the Himalayas for 8 years through the 1980s.
Whilst at Bhutan he made a 12 day walking pilgrimage to Aja Ney, the holy place of Lama Guru Padmasambhava. The presiding Lama presented him with a “Thangkha of Lama Guru” for good luck in life. This became the inspiration for the brand name “Holy Lama Naturals”.
In 2000, having gained 40 years of experience in the essential oils industry, Vijay Deo realised his vision by creating a range of natural body care products and free from chemicals. With a network of suppliers providing only the finest quality natural ingredients, it was not difficult to envision a high quality product range.
Encouraging his wife Vijaya to lead this venture, the manufacturing unit was set up as an all women enterprise, which supported and empowered the disadvantaged women in the community. Our business acts as a family to the women who have been widowed or deserted by their partners, etc.
We support the mission of “Kudumbashree”, a women oriented, community based, state poverty eradication mission of the government of Kerala.
Our attempt is not only to produce pure and natural products but also to have a manufacturing process which emits minimal carbon and produces very little waste. Not only are the ingredients all natural but we have tried to make the packaging using nature’s treasures, like coconut leaf and areca palm leaf.
Our motto is to manufacture products that are not only gentle to your body but are also kind to nature and the whole community.
