The importance of decoration and finishing in helping to create a premium and luxury image will be the key theme of the Pollard Boxes stand at this year’s Packaging Innovations London show.
“High quality effects play a critical role in establishing maximum impact and on-shelf presence along with a memorable opening experience, all of which help to reinforce brand values and enhance consumer perceptions,” explains Pollard’s commercial director Peter Conner.
Examples on show will include printing effects such as spot UV varnish, hot foil stamping, thermal embossing, lamination, special silk screen finishes, and the use of foils. Different paper finishes and textures, for example soft velvet, will demonstrate how boxes can incorporate the additional sensory elements of touch and feel to deliver further brand differentiation and consumer appeal.
Decoration can also be used to create a distinctive contrast between the outside and inside of a pack – for example subtle exterior colours combined with brighter metallic effects inside that generate excitement and surprise as the box is opened.
Pollard Boxes is the only UK company to offer an in-house print finishing service, enabling customers to source a complete one-stop solution for their luxury packaging requirements.
Rigid box specialist Pollard Group, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, has invested a further £200,000 in new equipment for its Leicestershire factory. The company has installed a Lamina 1116 Blackline fully-auto litho sheet laminator, in particular to meet the demands of a significant new order from a major high street retailer.

Presentation box gets the Regal treatment
Rigid box specialist Pollard Boxes has produced a bespoke presentation box for leading Chivas Regal Scotch Whisky. The box has been specially created for the brand’s limited-edition Chivas 18 Ultimate Cask Collection, a travel retail exclusive reinterpretation of its renowned blend Chivas 18.
High quality decorative effects to enhance the luxury image of products in the drink and beauty sectors will be demonstrated by rigid box specialist Pollard Boxes at this year’s Luxe Pack in Monaco, along with a host of eye-catching designs that help maximize on-shelf presence and appeal in competitive markets. A highlight of the stand will be the travel retail presentation box created for Glenfiddich 21 year old whisky.
