November 2024 – Etten-Leur, Netherlands – Leading blow molder Pretium Packaging has developed two sizes of hot fillable beverage bottles made from polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resin. The 250ml and 330ml containers are an ideal glass substitute for beverages and other liquid products filled up to 85 degrees Celsius.

Michel de Wolff, sales manager of Pretium Europe, says “Hot fillable PET solutions have traditionally been reserved for the largest brand owners, with high minimum order quantities creating a barrier to entry for smaller brands.” Pretium saw an opportunity to serve the middle market with a hot fill solution. “By leveraging our newest manufacturing platform, we are able to serve mid-sized brands with an attractive stock solution that meets their needs. And, with the preform technology we’ve developed, custom packages are a simple extension for brands that want to differentiate.”

According to de Wolff, Pretium is one of the only European rigid plastics manufacturers who can provide hot fillable PET solutions with reasonable minimum order requirements. For customers who also require post-consumer recycled resin content in their packaging, Pretium’s hot fill molds can usually accommodate the rPET resin.

“The new reheat and blow equipment we acquired for this project has endless opportunities for food and beverage applications, for both hot fill and ambient fill applications” de Wolff says. “We hope Pretium becomes synonymous with leading-edge packaging options that exceed the expectations of the markets we serve.”
