For Marne Mosterd, SFA Packaging developed a 1 kg mono-material plastic jar to replace traditional glass packaging. The goal: improve sustainability, safety and logistics, without compromising product protection or brand identity.

Glass offers strong barrier properties but is heavy, breakable and energy-intensive to produce. The challenge was to achieve comparable performance with a lighter and more efficient solution.

At SFA Packaging, the team conducted a thorough technical evaluation, testing wall thickness and barrier performance to safeguard shelf life. The company also developed a closure that seals effectively without an additional liner. Through careful optimization, the jar now runs smoothly on the existing filling line.

The result? A lightweight, nestable solution that improves transport efficiency and safety in professional kitchens, while maintaining high-quality IML decoration.

Paul De Vries from Marne Mosterd comments:
“The involvement and expertise of SFA Packaging clearly contributed to a reliable and solid packaging solution that fits our brand.”
