The high number and variety of nominations demonstrate the company’s position as a leading player in its sector.

Smurfit Kappa’s nominations fall across a number of categories, in recognition of its commitment to sustainability, strides in innovation, and the company’s senior leadership and strategic vision.

The nominations reflect Smurfit Kappa’s latest Sustainable Development Report, which reported strong progress in sustainability and outlined the company’s focus on designing and enabling truly circular systems, with a unique commitment to using only 100% sustainably sourced fibres in its products and processes.

Gary McGann, Group Chief Executive Officer, said: “We are very proud to have received these eight nominations in the 2015 PPI Awards. The quantity and range of nominations highlight Smurfit Kappa’s expertise and ongoing commitment to maximising value for our shareholders and customers through sustainable and innovative packaging solutions, coupled with a relentless focus on respecting the environment and communities in which we are privileged to operate.”

Launched in 2009, the PPI Awards are the only global awards dedicated to recognising the achievements of companies, mills and individuals in the pulp and paper sector. The 2015 winners will be announced in September.
