Smurfit Kappa, an expert in complete Bag-in-Box® packaging solutions is partnering with the Concours International Wine in Box contest for the second time. This international competition aims to promote high quality wines in Bag-inBox® packaging. The second edition of the contest will take place in Toulouse, France on March 18.

The first Concours contest took place in March 2015 and was a huge success. Indeed, 250 wine producers from 12 countries participated and among them, 74 wines from all over the world were rewarded “Best Wine in Box”. The concept is quite simple: each wine producer can participate and send in samples of their wine in Bag-in-Box® , which are blind-tasted by a professional jury and by enlightened amateurs, who choose the best boxed wines.

The wine and grape industry has recently witnessed a soar in premium wines packaged in Bag-in-Box® due to its popularity among consumers who appreciate its convenience and long shelf-life after opening. Thanks to the great technological features of the system, including quality bags, the Vitop tap and outer boxes, the quality and properties of the wine are maintained for several weeks after opening. Smurfit Kappa has been relentlessly working on improving the quality of Bag-in-Box® wines, making it the natural partner for this contest. The Best Wine in Box contest and Smurfit Kappa have a common goal: to support the current move upmarket of Bag-in-Box® wines.

This contest is a great opportunity for wine producers who wish to gain popularity and recognition – and also a great opportunity for consumers to discover wines in boxes more in depth, and the real undeniable quality of its wines.
