An innovative system for transporting fresh soft fruit called the SoFruBox® won the award in the transport packaging category. The SoFruBox system consists of a stackable crate in which individual punnets containing 500g (SoFruMiniPak®) or 1 Kg (SoFruBox®) of fruit can be can tailored to meet the needs of both the grower and the retailer.

This solution meets all the requirements across the supply chain and provides the required ventilation to deal with changes in humidity and climate, keeping the fruit in its optimum condition.  The SoFruBox® is also printed with high impact graphics allowing the customer to differentiate its fruit packs in a competitive retail environment and attract consumer attention at the point of purchase.

Winning the ‘Consumer’ packaging category for Smurfit Kappa was an innovative design for fruit juice called ‘Ice Box’. The ‘Ice-Box’ 5L Bag-in-Box® pack is a practical and attractive packaging solution that meets the needs and expectations of consumers.

Not only is it easy to transport from shop to home, it also makes best possible use of space within the kitchen. The box has been sized to fit perfectly onto most fridge shelves and the tap has been conveniently located so it can be used to pour the juice directly from the fridge, eliminating the need to remove the pack for use.

It is also possible to add paper cups as an accessory, maximising convenience and making it ideal for on-the-go consumption.  The colourful cups are the only strong colour on the packaging, subconsciously suggesting the colour of fruit from which the juice was made.

“We are delighted to have won these Pakstar awards, which in combination with the Art of Packaging Awards won earlier this year, demonstrate the industry leading expertise and experience of the design team in Smurfit Kappa Poland” said Jakub Świętek, Design Department Manager at Smurfit Kappa Poland.
