The POPAI awards showcase best practice in retail marketing across Germany, Austria and Switzerland and were presented at a spectacular ceremony in Düsseldorf.

This year, there were more than 60 entries spread across all categories and those nominated for awards were exhibited at the EuroCIS 2016, the leading trade fair for retail technology, and judged by a prestigious jury.

Winning the ‘Beverage and Tobacco’ category was an impressive display for Campari, for its Skyy Vodka brand, which was also optimised for safe transportation.  The jury report stated “This sensational display is a highly creative, yet practical solution for the POS field service.”

Winning the ‘Beauty and Fragrance’ category was an elegant floor display for Philips, for its Visapure brand, on which the jury commented: “The high quality and organic lines of the Visapure display are very impressive. The designers at Smurfit Kappa Zedek managed to develop an outstanding design in corrugated cardboard that meets all of the relevant criteria.”

Sascha Ohlow, Sales Manager Germany at Smurfit Kappa said: "The return on investment derived from the display is one of the key parameters our customers use to evaluate the performance of their campaign. The measurable success of both designs was affirmed by the opinion of the independent jury."

Erik Bunge, CEO Smurfit Kappa Benelux added: “Once again Smurfit Kappa has demonstrated the company's relentless drive to innovate. We excel at developing designs that address the motivation of the end consumer, ‘from the shelf backward’. Everyday we explore what will appeal to the consumer and help our customers’ sell their products.”
