From Ocean Waste Plastic to a Beauty Packaging Tube

Ocean Plastic Pollution is not just plastic trays, films, boxes, bags, straws, or bottles people tossed every day of domestic garbage. The ocean today, unfortunately, has all sorts of artificial objects that haunt the entire ecosystem and jeopardize marine life. One of the critical threats to marine life is the abandoned fishing nets, ropes, and trawls, which studies show account for 46% of all ocean plastic.

Started in 2020, SR Packaging works with an advanced recycling company that has developed a unique mechanical recycling technology to recycle post-use plastic fibers and rigid plastics from the maritime industry and use the recycled ocean waste plastic for the new OWP tubes.

The efforts are to:

✔ Lower marine pollution
✔ Reduce 85% CO2 emissions (comparing to the used of virgin plastic)

From an R&D perspective, SR Packaging, as a packaging provider, the primary task is to make sure the business runs upon a set of sustainable rules in parallel with the global needs and is friendly with the environment. The team insists on sustainability, and the vital development includes its PCR Airless Bottle and PCR dispensing solution.

Along with the complete PCR packaging solution, SR Packaging now launches its Ocean Waste Plastic Tube in two material variations, OWP10 Tube and OWP50 Tube. Both types are available in diameter from 10 mm to 60 mm tube sizes, flexible with tube length and volume, feasible for decorations of offset, hot stamping, flexographic, silk screen printing, and labeling.

  • OWP10 TUBE is 10% ocean waste plastic, 20% PCR PE, and 70% LDPE
  • OWP50 TUBE is 50% ocean waste plastic, 50% LDPE

Material Information

The PCR resin is audited, certified, and in compliance with the provisions of European RoHS - Total recycled plastics content. Packaging made of PCR resin is qualified to apply for Blue Angel Eco-labelled products and services. The recycling process and associated management of the facility for waste plastic have been audited and meet the required standards for certification under the EuCertPlast Scheme for European Plastic Recyclers.

The recycled ocean plastic meets the REACH requirements and does not contain chemicals listed on PROP65. Proposition 65 is California’s Safe Drinking Water & Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986,  a Californian law that applies to products sold in California.
