Project helps prevent food waste at home

A survey conducted by the Danish Technological Institute has shown that 14% of Danish household food waste stems from meal leftovers. Although these can be reheated, very often this is in a microwave oven, and the survey identified that many find the uneven heating of this process makes the food less savoury. An 8.7 litre SuperLift pail from RPC Superfos has been selected for a new range from Saint Gobain Construction Products under its trademark u-can brand. The injection moulded PP container is being used for three all-in-one repair kits for complex tasks. A bespoke butter tub from RPC Superfos has won an 'Award for Design Excellence' for a Norwegian food company for both its design and recyclability benefits. TINE, Norway's leading provider of branded food products, its subsidiary Fjordland and the design agency EGGS, were presented with the award by The Norwegian Centre for Design and Architecture. The pack, whose introduction by TINE has seen a 65% increase in sales of the company's spreadable butter and margarine products, was described by the award jury as 'an impressive achievement' and praised for meeting 'all requirements for overall design'.
