The right type of packaging is a powerful form of marketing. This has been ideally demonstrated by a unique pack and display solution developed and produced by Superfos, a Berry Global company, for Al Wefag Trading & Manufacturing Company, one of Saudi Arabia’s leading producers of quality sweet and savoury snacking products.

The Superfos Unipak tub features special holes in the lid that allow the display of up to 10 of Al Wefag’s Borgat pop-up lollipops.

“Great snacking moments already begin at the moment of purchase,” confirms Mohammed Yousuf Makba, Supply Chain Planning Manager at Al Wefag.

In particular, the Unipak has proved to be more durable and practical than the containers previously used by Al Wefag.

“Although we had previously sold the Borgat lollipops in tubs with holes in the lid for 3D display, this solution was easily damageable and required a labour-intensive additional cardboard insert for branding,” explains Mohammed Yousuf Makba. “Now, the UniPak tub with the special lid full of holes provides unique on-shelf impact with in-mould labelling, plus flawless functionality. We can skip the cardboard insert and the lollipops look outstanding on shelf – in every sense of the word.”

Equally important, both the container and lid are made entirely from polypropylene, making the pack fully recyclable.

“To support our sales, packaging must have quality and uniqueness,” continues Mohammed Yousuf Makba. “Other factors including logistics, size, weight etc., also play an important role. We appreciate the durability of the UniPak tub and lid; the pack gives the lollipops a premium look, including the flexibility to display the lollipops on-shelf in 3D. So, yes, we’re extremely happy with the UniPak tubs from Superfos.”

Thanks to clear IML guidelines from Superfos, the Al Wefag in-house graphic designer could work effortlessly on the designs for the tub and the Superfos team was always available in case technical support was needed.

“Superfos is our core packaging partner and we always get the latest updates from the industry,” concludes Mohammed Yousuf Makba. “Whether it’s technical advice, an insight on trends or other big ideas, Superfos is always there for us.”

A survey conducted by the Danish Technological Institute has shown that 14% of Danish household food waste stems from meal leftovers. Although these can be reheated, very often this is in a microwave oven, and the survey identified that many find the uneven heating of this process makes the food less savoury. In an attempt to alter this behaviour, RPC Superfos has contributed to the development of a new multifunctional plastic storage box which ensures a more even distribution of the microwave heat.

Advanced in-mould labelling from RPC Superfos has been a critical factor in the successful relaunch of a range of high-quality paints and primers from Bosnia and Herzegovina paint company BAUklar. The injection moulded SuperOval pail feature close-up drawings of tigers with striking details and appeal that form the essential visual communication of the pack. In-Mould Labelling (IML) makes it possible to reproduce even the finest details of the tiger design, so that end- users can almost feel that they can touch the whiskers.

Spoon-in-lid solution for dairy products

An innovative spoon-in-the-lid from RPC Superfos for its popular 75mm container is guaranteed to make yogurts, desserts and other dairy products stand out from the crowd. The new solution is perfect for consumers who eat on-the-go, with the foldable polypropylene spoon simple to access, assemble and use. The APET lid features a fine PET seal that is easy to tear off. As such, it represents a significant improvement over similar lids which are sealed with aluminium foil, and thus oblige the user to find the spoon with which to eat the product.
