With consideration for the global environment, Takemoto Packaging has implemented a policy of sustainable growth.

Using the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) as a foundation of this policy, Takemoto focuses on the development of recycled PET, the use of biomass plastics and refillable containers, product refills and flexible pouches.

Four Environmental Initiatives

Recycled PET

Takemoto has developed recycled PET containers in order to promote and increase the recycling of used products. The PET drink bottles collected by local governments in Japan are separated, pulverized, washed and turned into raw materials for the production of new containers.

Bio-Polyethylene – Bio-PET

Takemoto uses non-petroleum-based raw materials and minimize the consumption of finite fossil fuels .These are vegetable-based materials derived from sugarcane. They are by-product of the sugar making process, meaning that the process is not in competition with food production. And as sugercane grows, its use results in lower CO2 emissions than the use of fossil-fuel plastics.

Replacement refills and refillable containers

Takemoto has developed reusable containers and containers that reduce waste in order to cut the consumption of resources. Containers, or fittings such as sprayers and dispensers in the case of replacement refills, are used repeatedly. This has a two-fold ecological benefit as not only the use but also the disposal of plastic is reduced.

Takemoto presents containers that produce lower CO2 emissions when incinerated through techniques such as the use of alternative raw materials. This series has been developed bearing in mind that plastic container manufacturers must face the fact that carbon-dioxide (CO2) emissions are thought to be one of main causes of global warming. While containers have many special characteristics in terms of design and decoration, their use is often short-lived and a high ratio of these products are incinerated, especially in Japan. This being the case, additives have been added to plastic resins that reduce CO2 emissions in the process of incineration.
