Digitizing packs and packaging

You might be wondering how the pack enters the Pack Cloud, transforms into a digital asset in the form of a studio photograph, 360º photograph, or a 3D model, and travels throughout Webpac's brand-supplier online ecosystems.

When you digitize your packaging information with Webpac, it integrates into a smart centralized structure within the Pack Cloud - the world’s first cloud-based platform for brands and pack suppliers, which distributes this packaging information across Webpac's digital solutions for enhanced pack sourcing, design, development, management and visualization. Within our online ecosystem, digitized packs can be searched based on their specifications, configured in 3D directly in a web browser, showcased on your website and catalog in the most impactful way, and much more.

Let's step inside Webpac Digital Studios and show you how we digitize packs and packaging.

Webpac receives pack data from brands and packaging suppliers in various ways — diagram drawings, photographs, digital CAD files or physical samples — and convert it into three types of digital assets: 360º photograph, studio photograph, or a 3D model.

When we receive physical samples, the studio uses a state-of-the-art 360º camera to capture them in high-resolution studio or 360º photographs. Physical packs can also be placed in cutting-edge 3D scanners adorned with a projector in the center and two cameras ready to scan objects from all angles. Alternatively, when we receive a diagram drawing, our tech professionals create the 3D model from scratch.

To create a 3D model, our 3D tech professionals clean the image of any external components and irregularities, remove the background, and convert the file to be universally compatible throughout all our solutions in the Pack Cloud. Regardless of how we receive packaging information and whether the pack has several embossed patterns, complex shapes or different textures, our digital studio can create a high-quality 3D model that replicates any pack's specifications.

With our Packtag tagging technology, the studio photographs, 360º photographs, and 3D models become digital assets that are all tagged with their product specifications for instant searchability and visualization in digital catalogs on the Webpackaging search and innovation platform, on a supplier's company website and a brand's own secure pack system, developed by Webpac.

But it doesn't stop there. Beyond being able to rotate on any axis and providing unparalleled pack visualization, 3D models allow you to configure and decorate virtual packs in real time, directly in any web browser!

With access to 3D models of packs and packaging components, users can experience cutting-edge, interactive 3D pack development; to instantly create new packs in 3D by using compatible packaging components with standard industry neck sizes that ensure that their pack concept is not only innovative but also possible. The Webpac Pack Cloud allows users to search their own portfolio of products, find compatible supplier components, mix and match universal 3D parts in real-time, change component materials and colors, upload new artwork, and download their configured pack to an iPad to view in augmented reality (AR).

You can digitize your pack and packaging data in one powerful source to engage with the world's largest community of brands and suppliers, to increase innovation and accelerate speed-to-market.

Send us a file or physical pack, or come visit Webpac's Digital Studios in the heart of Madrid for a FREE 3D model of your product.
