• EcoVadis awards Platinum medal to Proenfar, bypassing Gold status

We are very proud to announce that EcoVadis has awarded Proenfar, Weener Plastics' (WP) Group member in Colombia, a Platinum rating. This is the highest rating for sustainable leadership given by assessment leader EcoVadis, who have clearly recognized Proenfar’s long-running commitment to sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility. For the past four years, Proenfar has received the EcoVadis Silver medal annually. Now, the company has bypassed ‘Gold’ status and received its first Platinum medal.

This industry-leading, enhanced performance is, without doubt, a major accomplishment. Proenfar, with two factories in Colombia, earned an overall score of 76/100. Maintaining high ratings on the ‘Sustainable Procurement’ and ‘Ethics’ pillars, the team made especially fast progress in the ‘Environment’ and ‘Labour Practices & Human Rights’ fields. They managed to significantly increase their score thanks to a structured and proactive approach, engagement, and tangible actions.

One high-profile project was a renewable energy program, including solar panels, at the plant in Tocancipá. In addition, social initiatives with local communities, such as the ‘María es mi Madre Community Kitchen Program’, and an impeccable Social Responsibility (SR) audit under the SMETA 4-pillars standard, contributed to this successful achievement. Other highlights could be found in the field of materials and product innovations, such as ongoing research on PCRs and weight reduction of products.

This recognition comes at a crucial time, when doing right by our employees, clients, other stakeholders and the planet is more important than ever.
