Today, more people feel a sense of personal responsibility toward eco-consciousness and sustainability than ever before. Caring for our only home – Earth – and preserving it for future generations is reflected in their desire for sustainable, responsibly-sourced packaging and products.

This predilection is not falling on deaf ears in the beauty industry. Beauty and personal care companies continue to push for recycling and are moving toward greener positioning in response to customer demand.  According to a Mintel study about pivotal packaging trends in 2018, “the throwaway culture of today will evolve into one that understands and embraces the role of packaging as a primary means to reduce global food and product waste.”

Over the years, WWP has held firm in its commitment to reduce its environmental footprint and has introduced a variety of initiatives reflecting our green promise.

Our most recent effort involves the production of plant-based ethylene tubes that enable our customers to do their part to lower greenhouse gas emissions. The plant-based ethylene is grown in Brazil using sugarcane, a renewable resource grown by eco-responsible farms and transformed into ethylene using 100% renewable resources. We’re proud of our capability to use this eco-friendly plant-based resin to produce any custom or stock tube sleeve and head style, in any color — as well as in clear, for those looking for excellent contact clarity.

Our engineers have done extensive testing of our bio-plastic (also called bio-resin) product. Using a combination of four resin variants to produce the best tube for your purposes, we can create a bio-plastic with the same chemical composition as a traditional polyethylene, which means product compatibility will be exactly the same as with traditional resins.

What’s more, we can produce the tubes in mono-layer, 3-layer, and 5-layer, and can also produce any of our continuous thread caps in this format – offering our customers a complete plant-based package that is fully recyclable. In addition, the production process creates byproducts that are far less harmful to the environment than those created during the production of traditional fossil-fuel-based polyethylene.

We’re proud to note that this coming fall, Tropic Skin Care will launch a new line of green tubes for their hair care line that will be made from our green tubes.

WWP has the ability to offer all of our existing decoration options to ensure that your package meets or exceeds current eco-conscious standards and can ensure that transitioning your existing package to this environmentally friendly option will be seamless and pain-free.

Last month, WWP was the proud sponsors of the Luxe Pack New York “In Green Awards” -a program that recognizes sustainable products and initiatives industry-wide, and will continue to partake in sustainable, responsible-sourced packaging and products.
