Rexam secures land to expand operations in India

Rexam, a leading global beverage can manufacturer, has secured land in Sri City (55km from Chennai), Southern India to build a beverage can plant, as well as land in Mahindra World City, Jaipur, Northern India to build a beverage can plant in due course.  

The plant in Sri City represents an initial investment of close to £50 million and will add a total production capacity of close to 800 million cans. It is expected to be operational by H2 2016. The plant will create around 150 new jobs in the local community. Plans for the land in Jaipur will be announced once they are available.

Craig Jones, Sector Director Rexam AMEA, commented:

"These investments will support and enable us to take advantage of the continued exciting growth of the beverage can in India. Having plants in different locations across the country will ensure we have a better footprint and position to meet the needs of our customers in the region over the long term."

Ball Corporation receives ASI certification for North and Central America beverage packaging operations

Ball Corporation announced today it earned the Aluminum Stewardship Initiative (ASI) certification for its 25 Beverage Packaging North and Central America (BPNCA) sites which includes 23 manufacturing facilities, one office, and one technical support center. From this March onwards, all Damm's cans, which are supplied by Ball Corporation, will be certified according to ASI's standards for responsible production, sourcing and stewardship. The certification covers packaging and storage of beer in cans, as well as related activities including design, packaging and storage of finished products, waste management and storage, and the recovery of waste, including end consumer's packaging waste.

Ball announces its five most sustainable manufacturing plants of 2018

Ball Corporation has recognized its five most sustainable manufacturing plants of 2018, identifying those that demonstrated leadership through significant efficiency improvements, team safety and wellness enhancements, promotion of metal packaging's sustainability credentials, and engagement in their local communities. Each plant will receive the 2018 R. David Hoover Sustainability Award, with which Ball honors the plant in each region of its Global Beverage Packaging and Aerosol Packaging businesses.

Ball Corporation agrees to sell Chinese beverage can and end manufacturing facilities

Ball Corporation has announced an agreement to sell its metal beverage packaging facilities in China to ORG Technology Co. Ltd, a leading Chinese metal packaging company, for approximately $225 million total transaction consideration including cash, plus potential additional consideration related to the relocation of an existing facility over the next several years, which the company currently expects to be in the range of $50 million to $75 million.

Rexam releases 2015 Sustainability Report to news of further recognition within the DJSI

Rexam has published its 2015 Sustainability Report. The same week has also seen the publication of the 2016 Dow Jones Sustainability Index, and Rexam has again been listed as an industry leader in sustainability. The index is published by RobecoSAM, an investment specialist focused exclusively on sustainability investing. Rexam has improved its score in 10 categories within the 2016 index, and is overall industry leader in Risk & Crisis Management, Human Capital Development and Labour Practice Indicators & Human Rights.
