New palletisers set to improve operations at Beatson Clark

  • Beatson Clark

The leading South Yorkshire glass manufacturer has invested £720,000 in a new Zecchetti conveyor line and palletiser which is able to both bulk and small pack.

“One of the amber lines previously packed only shrink-wrapped modular packs, which limited its use to pharmaceutical products in this format,‘ said Graham Lax, Head of Project Management at Beatson Clark.

“But the upgraded line gives Beatson Clark the flexibility to supply pharmaceutical containers in either bulk or small packs and will be able to handle other containers such as beer bottles too.”

Other benefits include a better environmental performance and an improved health and safety design, as there is easy access to components at a high level.

After manufacturing medicine bottles and jars for 260 years,’ said Charlotte Taylor, Marketing Manager at Beaston Clark, ‘the pharmaceutical sector remains an important market for us and increasing the packaging options we offer in this area will be beneficial for our customers. In addition, this investment will give us more flexibility for the growing craft brewing sector.’

Beatson Clark goes back in time with Trappist beer bottles

Glass manufacturer Beatson Clark has a heritage dating back centuries, so it’s appropriate that the company has been chosen to supply bottles to the first monastery to brew beer in the UK since the days of Henry VIII. Monks at Mount Saint Bernard Abbey near Coalville in Leicestershire have become the first in the UK to brew an officially recognised Trappist beer – and their brewery is one of just 12 in the world to earn the name ‘Trappist’.
