Design in Motion: The Story Behind EOS Snuff Boxes

Nicotine products are often consumed on the go, so the packaging needs to be compact, portable, and practical. It should fit in a pocket or bag while preserving freshness and protecting the product from damage. But that’s just the starting point. Material combinations, functionality, dosing, and overall user experience all play a role in how a product is received. At Conzept International, we bring all these parameters into the development process, including sustainability, which is not treated as a detail, but as a constant design consideration.

This holistic approach is exactly what guided our collaboration with the Swiss company EOS: Empire of Snus. Established in 2020, EOS provides tobacco-free nicotine snuff and approached us early on to develop packaging that was as distinctive as the product itself. Together, we designed the tin, logo, and visual line; resulting in a compact, durable container with a double-function sliding lid. Slide it up to access the fresh snuff. Slide it down to reveal a second compartment designed to discreetly hold used portions until disposal is possible.

The entire piece is made without adhesives, making it easy to separate the metal components for proper recycling. Functional, smart, and built with care from concept to finish. As CEO Raffael Sordano shared:
