2013 marks a milestone for Coster: the company’s 50th Anniversary

  • Coster
Beauty, Personal Care, Cosmetics, Personal Care, Health, Pharmaceuticals, Primary Packaging, Aerosol Neck

When Coster started up in 1963, the company’s only product was filling equipment. At a later stage, aerosol valves were developed and the company subsequently designed and brought to market a complete offering of sprays, dispensers, and perfume pumps.

Over the last two decades, Coster has become the market leader in the production of bespoke spray caps and actuators; this period also saw the development and successful launch of Coster’s BOV (Bag-On-Valve) products.

Until fairly recently Coster was probably better known in the cosmetic and personal care industries, but today the company’s footprint in the pharma business continues to grow, helping to increase Coster Group sales on a global scale.

In 2007, the company undertook a further diversification step, making significant investments in the pharma area: a clean room for the production of MDI valves was set up and brand new equipment was installed. Dedicated human resources were allocated to meet the market needs and enhance Coster’s market share in this field.

The last 50 years have witnessed significant changes at Coster: from being a small domestic company with a few customers, it has grown to become a multinational group with an annual turnover of 170 million Euro (US$ 230 M). Fifteen manufacturing sites, 18 agents, 2 sales and distribution offices, and 2 licensees enable increased customer proximity and improved service levels.

Always sensitive to pharmaceutical market requirements, Coster stays close to its customers by:

  • establishing partnerships with pharma R&D companies
  • collaborating with prestigious universities and research centers
  • researching and incorporating in-line, cutting-edge control systems into its filling equipment
  • operating an MDI pilot plant devoted to filling trials and other research activities

Coster is the sole company worldwide able to offer a comprehensive solution: packaging components + filling equipment + formulation assistance.
