The labels you put on your product will define the way consumers perceive your product. It is essentially a way of communicating important messages about your offering, to your customers. If those labels are inaccurate or they omit important details such as the extra benefits your product has for the consumer, or the ingredients or materials that your product is made from, then this can potentially create distrust in your brand.

The problem that many companies face is knowing exactly how to convey important information on the labels. Indeed, some manufacturers are unsure of what to put on the labels in the first place. As a result, hardly a day goes by when the issue of labelling does not crop up in the news.
Whether it is people campaigning for more information to be included on the labels, or querying certain terminology or colour systems on the labels, this is an issue that crops up time and time again for many companies. For this reason, we have suggested some of the main things that manufacturers should consider when it comes to labelling.

Health information
If your product is a pharmaceutical or a food product, then there are a number of different things you will need to include on your labels. For food, this will include things such as calorie intake, allergy information, nutrition information and ingredients. Pharmaceutical products on the other hand, should include the name of the medication, what it is for and dosage information.

Of course, these are the basics, but all of these details should be included in a clear and easy to read format.

Benefits
Most manufacturers will include some promotional material on their products. However, in order to get consumers to really understand why they should choose your product over another, then you really want to include more detailed information on exactly how your items can help consumers to resolve their problems. If spacing is an issue, then you may want to include booklet labels, which allow you to fit more information into a relatively confined space.

Manufacturer details
Occasionally, your customers will want to contact you regarding any particular concerns you have or to submit comments or suggestions. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure that you include ways in which customers can contact you.

Competitions
Occasionally manufacturers will hold promotional competitions or contests to increase interest in their brand.  In order to reach customers directly, it is a good idea to include this on your labels. This makes it much more likely that a customer will take an interest in the contest.
Therefore, labels can be particularly useful for this purpose, and so many companies use Fix-a-Form®, the multipage label for this purpose.
