The challenge of achieving the highest quality codes on ultra-fast packing lines with difficult-to-mark substrates in markets such as beverage, food, personal care, automotive and extrusions is being met with the launch of a new laser marking solution from Linx Printing Technologies.
The Linx CSL60 laser offers a major technological breakthrough, combining a powerful processor and 60W laser tube with Linx’s unique Visicode® system to produce crisp, clear codes on difficult-to-mark materials such as glass and PET at high speeds. This enables manufacturers to meet all compliance requirements and provides effective brand protection and enhancement.
The laser incorporates a powerful processor that is able to relay messages from the control unit to the marking head very quickly, which ensures that line speeds are unaffected. As a result, up to 70,000 packs per hour can be marked.
In addition, the Linx CSL60 supports production line efficiencies to help deliver Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). For example, the availability of complete IP65 protection for the controller and laser head means that a fully integrated system can now remain in situ during wash down to minimise downtime.
Equally important, the Linx CSL60 offers 25 different head and lens options, providing over 16,000 combinations of lens, marking heads and tubes. This provides the widest choice in the industry and gives the Linx CSL60 laser the flexibility to be tailored to a customer’s precise requirements. It also means that each laser is able to run at its optimum power level, which helps to extend the life of the equipment.
With the SHC150c head option, the Linx CSL60 offers a larger marking field than any comparable laser. This provides additional versatility for the marking of wide web applications such as flexible packaging and outer case coding, and coding of products across multiple lines. This also brings the advantage of requiring only one laser where previously two would have been needed, while still delivering clear codes even at small sizes.
The Linx CSL60 has been designed to be easy to install, even on lines where space is restricted, and to integrate with existing packing and labelling equipment. For operators, the proven LinxVision touch screen ensures quick and easy creation and selection of messages for reduced errors, faster setup and minimised downtime.
As with all laser coders, the lack of consumables minimises running costs and eliminates downtime for refilling or cleaning. In addition, the Linx CSL60’s air-cooled operation offers further cost efficiencies as no ancillary air cooling or factory air is required.
“In competitive markets, meeting compliance requirements and ensuring your brand is fully protected are vital, but neither quality nor productivity can be sacrificed in achieving these,” comments Matt Eastham, Laser Business Manager, Linx Printing Technologies. “The Linx CSL60 has been specifically designed to satisfy these needs, combining the fastest speeds with superior quality codes.”
Linx builds North American distribution for its range of coding and marking printers
Coding and marking specialist Linx Printing Technologies has appointed a number of new channel partners in North America to expand support for its product portfolio. As well as providing greater geographical coverage in this important territory, the new distributors offer expertise across a wide variety of market sectors and will help deliver the support and service end-user customers demand from their coding and marking printer suppliers.
A Linx 8900 Continuous Ink Jet (CIJ) printer is delivering improved all-round coding quality to French confectionery manufacturer Gida Confectionery. The company – which uses the Linx 8900 to print up to three lines, including ‘Use before’ dates, on all its confectionery products – originally approached Linx France in search of a more reliable coder after experiencing technical difficulties with its previous solution.
A Linx 8900 Continuous Ink Jet (CIJ) printer is being used for coding onto beer cans at a successful craft brewery in London. Since purchasing the Linx 8900 for its range of premium beers, Beavertown Brewery has praised the machine’s ease of use, compatibility with high-speed canning lines, and reliable operation in a damp environment.
Linx Printing Technologies has widened its range of specialist inks with the introduction of a new formula that meets the challenges of coding onto oily surfaces. Linx Black oil-penetrating ink 1062 is able to print effectively through light layers of oil onto a wide range of materials, including plastics, metal, glass and waxy surfaces. Linx 1062 ink also provides good adhesion on Oriented Polypropylene (OPP) and other plastic films, making it ideal for a variety of both industrial and food applications.
Linx extends Nigerian support
Coding and marking specialist Linx Printing Technologies is further strengthening its presence in Nigeria with the appointment of two new distributors. Nigeria is host to many multinational companies. The Linx product portfolio will help businesses of all sizes in their quest to minimise downtime and increase productivity on manufacturing lines in a variety of key industries including food & drink, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.
New models extend laser coding capabilities
Linx Printing Technologies is launching two laser coders that will open up the benefits of the technology to more companies and applications. Key benefits of the new Linx CSL range are even faster printing speeds and greater versatility, making the coders ideal for a wider variety of products, along with quicker and easier installation and set-up that help to make laser coding simpler and more accessible.
Linx delivers long-term benefits for dairy company
Reliability and low cost of ownership are key factors in the success of two Linx 7900 CIJ (continuous ink jet) printers incorporating head traversing units which are printing 40,000 yogurt pots every hour at leading Israeli dairy company Tnuva Eilon Tavor.
The reliability, flexibility and efficiency of two Linx 8900 CIJ (Continuous Ink Jet) printers installed at leading aerosol manufacturer and filler LMA Services has been a key factor in allowing the company to increase the number of hours it operates its production lines - from eight to 16 hours per day - giving it the opportunity to take on more business.
Easy-to-use Coders can cope with demanding applications
Linx Printing Technologies is extending its recently-launched Linx 8900 CIJ (continuous ink jet) printer with the introduction of two models which further enhance the range’s capabilities in a wide variety of markets including food and drink, cabling, bottling, extrusions and contract packing.
