Guerlain holds third edition of Bee University at UNESCO headquarters in Paris

In conjunction with the International Day for Biodiversity on May 22,  Guerlain organized the third edition of its Bee University program to identify the best solutions to protect and preserve bees. The event was part of the Man and Biosphere (MAB) conference held at UNESCO to mark the International Day for Biodiversity.

Bees have been an inspiration for Guerlain since 1853, emblazoning the Maison’s most precious perfume bottles. In addition to a symbol, bees also provide Guerlain with irreplaceable natural ingredients. With the growing threat to ecosystems, preserving biodiversity has thus become fundamentally important to the Maison. Protecting bees is one of the key pillars of Guerlain’s commitment to sustainability “In the Name of Beauty”, leading to a host of concrete initiatives, including the Bee University symposiums.

Launched in 2017, this annual event brings together leading specialists in bee conservation to share expertise on the causes and consequences of the disappearance of bees and the most innovative solutions to address this crisis. The Bee University offers an opportunity for the public to discover or learn more about this essential issue. The third edition of the program introduced an international scope as discussions addressed the impact of the bee crisis around the world, exploring solutions proposed in different countries.

Guerlain’s Bee University was part of a conference series to celebrate International Day for Biodiversity hosted by the UNESCO Man and Biosphere (MAB) program, with which LVMH recently announced a five-year partnership. Launched in the 1970s, this intergovernmental scientific program aims to establish a scientific framework to improve relationships between people and their environment around the world.
