Puncture Resistance for Flexible Packaging Material Test Standard EN 14477

  • Mecmesin

In this video, view a puncture resistance test on flexible packaging material to international test standard BS EN 14477:2004 that is conducted using a MultiTest 2.5-xt touch-screen force tester and puncture test fixture.

The force tester is driven by Emperor software, which controls the speed of the test stand, collects the data, and then calculates penetration force, elongation at break and the penetration energy.

Puncture resistance is a function of controlled stretch and tear at a point. There are two sides to puncture resistance: it can be used to measure the sharpness of a point in penetrating a known membrane, or the resistance of a membrane to a known point.
