    Three Trophies for the MW Team at the 2018 PAC Awards

    On February 27th the Packaging Consortium (PAC) held its annual Global Leadership Awards Gala. Held at the BXP Live! Conference in Bonita Springs, Florida, the awards ceremony featured a panel of expert judges and competitors from around the world. Also in attendance was Dustin Wills, MW’s Managing Director of the Americas; by the end of the evening, he had picked up three trophies on behalf of the team.

    Two awards went to our innovative music speaker pack for Bacardi Carta Negra. The special edition of this celebrated dark rum comes housed in a chic black carton that contains two high quality speakers.

    Crafted from premium recycled rigid board, this pack is wrapped in graphic print art paper, which has been embellished with spot gloss and anti-scratch laminate. To play music through the speakers, the user simply has to connect a mobile device via the provided wire, resting it in a recess at the back of the pack.

    To our delight, this pack came in top in the category of New Brand – Seasonal, Promotional, Limited Edition, and received the much-coveted BXP Partnership Award.

    We also walked away with an award in the category of New Brand – Luxury. Winning this particular trophy was our oversized compact for Estée Lauder’s Victoria Beckham Collection Daylight Edition.

    Crafted using an MDF substructure, this unique container has a sleek, PU leather-wrapped design. It boasts gold electroplating around its edges, and a matching gold clasp. Inside, the desirable makeup items sit inside a black ultra suede EVA fitment. The 2.0 version of our Victoria Beckham pack has already garnered industry attention in recent months by bagging Package of the Year at the 2017 NJPEC Awards.

    The PAC Packaging Awards have been running since 1952 and this year made history with a new category, Best of Show Awards. Though we weren’t successful in this particular category, we were delighted that two of our packs – manufactured for companies in two very different sectors – were recognised by the PAC judges. With so many excellent packs in the running, it was a true honour.

    MW Luxury Packaging showcase their packs for Diageo's 2017 special releases

    For the fifth year running, MW Luxury Packaging have manufactured packs for Diageo’s Special Release Single Malt Whiskies. This year, a total of ten whiskies were selected, eight of which were handed over to the MW team for the production of the packaging. Some of the big hitters include a classic re-release from a closed distillery, an exciting new single malt from an up-and-comer, and a truly unique blend, crafted from the single malts of 28 different Diageo distilleries.
